The old Lubin's Theatre building still stands today, used now as a show bar. The entire block of 400 East Baltimore Street has been converted in show bars, and has an international reputation for it's shows. Known as " The Block ", all the old movie houses in this block have been " converted " into show bas, or have been torn down. Just down the street was the Rivoli Theatre, long since torn down, and across the street is the Gayety Theatre.
Just about the time that movies began to appear in Nickelodeons, this photo was taken. The 400 block of East Baltimore Street was where much of the early theatre activity was in Baltimore. A fire in late 2010 seemed to have all but destroyed the building, but besides gutting it, the building still stands and is under renovation. ............................
