..................... ....................................................................................................................................................Dreamland Theatre ( Site ) Hampstead Md The earliest theatre that we can find was the Dreamland, operated in the 1910's. There is a little confusion on the address on this old theatre and the Leister ( below ) , but we plan to straighten it out. We are also not quite sure if the building shown is actually the old theatre building ( after much conversion ) but the old theatre was at the intersection of Main Street and Hillcrest, but the theatre dates back to the 1910's.

.............................................. ........ .......................................................................................................................................Lesiter Theatre ( site ) , Hampstead Maryland      The Leister opened in the early 1910's and operated into the 1920's. an old 1920's movie theatre in Hampstead was located on this lot ( Either the Leister or Dreamland ) but we are still working on the years of operation. The old insurance maps do show the garage which is likely the one seen in the photo, but the theatre would have been where the very small building in the photo is seen . We aren't convinced that is the actual building ( very small ) but we'll continue to dig. Just to the north of the theatre was the Spring Garden Hotel. which appears to have been razed.

................................ ......................................................................................................................................................Central Theatre - Hampstead Maryland    By the early 1930's, it was the Central Theatre , which operated from atleast the early 1930's into the 1950's, and seated between 286 and 400. That building had been used as a Antiques Mall, but current usage is a travel and event rental building. Looking at the building straight on , with a modern front, it's hard to imagine an old movie theatre, but travel a little to the South and you can see the old longer building behind the facade, as seen below. ................................ ...........................................................................................................................................................................Central Theatre - Hampstead Md

The Rendezvous is currently used as a church.
