The story
of the " Elephant Child " goes a little like this. The puppet was designed that the nose
and the tail would pull out to create the Elephant Child as the play went
on. The Elephant Child ( with no tail and no trunk ) went to
the stream and asked the crocodile what he was eating for lunch, The croc,
wanting to taste the little Elephant Child, told him to come closer. The Elephant
Child did, and when he got too close, the Croc grabbed hold of his nose.
At about the same time, a snake grabbed hold of his tail. Both pulled from
each end, and the Elephant Child came to be. The picture above shows the
Elephant child before the Croc and snake came along. The second photos
shows the Elephant Child after the encounter. Above , Bernie
Paul is seen reenacting the play in 2003.
