Garden Theatre 125 Mechanic Cumberland Maryland.....................................

The Garden Theatre was just one of several movie houses located in Cumberland over the years.  Located at 125 Mechanic Street, just north of Bedford,  the front of the theater had two small stores and the entrance to the theatre in the center, sometimes the address being noted as 127 North Mechanic Street. Next store to the theatre was a bowling alley, and just down the street was the Salvation Army. North of the theater was the Cumberland bus terminal.   The Garden was a smaller Cumberland Theatre, seating about 432 in 1951, the smallest capacity at that time for the downtown area of Cumberland. The theatre has been torn down and the location has now been redeveloped.
